This is an early-production Yamaha YFL-581 professional flute, made in Japan in the mid-to-late 1980s.
The headjoint is original and unmodified, with clean chimney edges and no re-cutting. Mechanism is straight, smooth, and responsive.
This era of Yamaha professional flutes is highly respected for its warm, flexible tone, excellent intonation, and exceptional build quality. Many players consider the early 580/581 series superior to some newer Yamaha lines.
